When editing is a joy and not a job

I was lucky enough to edit a bonus chapter for one of my (new) favorite books + authors. At first, it was harder than I thought to separate out my love for the story from the need for objectivity to edit properly.

But that's what multiple read throughs are for!

After I got all the excitement out, I was able to look at the text differently: not only could I step back and ask "is this the best for the characters and story" but also, I was able to respect the author's voice in my suggestions for changes... since I LOVE IT (and her) SO MUCH!

This was the first project I edited that I was so emotionally invested in. It's good to know that I'm able to still do the job properly when that's the case!
