Hot take: this book is...
SO
MUCH
BETTER
than
ACOTAR.
Yep, I said it. I DNF'd ACOTAR, forced myself to read it because peer pressure, then DNF'd the second book without regret.
THIS BOOK, however... held my attention 100% from page one. If I could give this more than five stars, I would.
Here, Ms. Gordon: take ALL. MY. STARS.
In this book, you'll find
30+ yr old FMC with anxiety. thank you for a female lead with maturity and panic attacks not derived from plot-driven PTSD (although those may or may not show up eventually #nospoilers)
animal companions. +1,000,000 points for Luna and Aro
a morally white MMC = a huge plus
cast of fun Fae characters. LOVE Raine!
a well-paced fantasy romance plot that follows logical paths
Mosshaven. I will let you discover that on your own. But yeah, I want to live there!
I will be abandoning the rest of my TBR to get book 2 finished before the finale releases this March. [And all the ARCs in my queue sigh at me with rabid disappointment.]
